Lone Star goalie Wieneke makes NCAA DI Commitment
The Lone Star Brahmas of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that goalie Jack Wieneke has announced he has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for St. Lawrence University in the ECAC.
Wieneke, 20, is playing his 2nd full season in the NAHL. The Plymouth, Minnesota native began his NAHL career in the 2021-22 campaign where he played in one game for both the Aberdeen Wings and Jamestown Rebels. The following season, Wieneke suited up in 22 regular season games for the Maryland Black Bears and helped bring them to the 2024 Robertson Cup Playoffs. This year, Jack began the season with the Black Bears before joining the Brahmas where he has since played in 24 games. Throughout those games, he holds a 18-2-2-1 record alongside a 1.50 goals against average and .939 save percentage.
“I am honored and excited to announce my commitment to play Division 1 college hockey and further my education at St. Lawrence University. Huge thanks to my family, coaches, and teammates for the support along the way,” said Wieneke.
Wieneke was recently selected to participate in the 2024 Top Prospects Tournament where he represented Team South. He appeared in both games representing the South Division, recording 36 saves on 39 shots.
“We are really excited for Jack’s commitment. St. Lawrence got a really good goalie for the next four years that’s going to help them win a championship,” said Dan Wildfong, head coach of the Lone Star Brahmas.
Wieneke becomes the 9th Brahma heading to play Division I hockey in the future. He joins five other NAHLers set to play at St. Lawrence University under head coach Brent Brekke.
