New Jersey forward Bartecko makes NCAA DI commitment

November 30, 2023

The New Jersey Titans of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward of Dominik Bartecko has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Mercyhurst University for the 2024-25 season.

Bartecko, 19, was acquired via trade from Amarillo last season and currently leads the Titans in scoring so far during the 2023-24 season with 26 points (8 goals, 18 assists) in 24 games.

This season, the 5’10/170 lbs, native of Praha, Czechia, has recorded two 4 game point streaks, and had 2 goals and an assist in New Jersey’s last game against Philadelphia.  Now, Bartecko becomes the 10th Division I commit on the New Jersey roster, and the second to commit to Mercyhurst following Riley Fitzgerald.

“I am very thankful to be given this opportunity; my time here in New Jersey has been nothing but special,” said Bartecko.  “I’d like to thank my coaches and my teammates for getting me to this point.  Lastly, I thank my parents since none of this would be possible without their never-ending support.  Now, I look forward to finishing the season and chase the Robertson Cup.”

Head Coach and General Manager Craig Doremus said, “We are excited for Dom and the entire Bartecko family.  Dom came to New Jersey last year hungry and eager to earn a Division I opportunity.  He immediately became a big part of our forward group, and he has continued that with a strong start to this season.  We are proud of Bart and the work he has put in since coming here. I think his best hockey is still ahead of him.  Mercyhurst is getting a young man who is extremely talented and smart.  We look forward to Dom being a huge part of our run to the Robertson Cup.”

Bartecko made his NAHL debut with the Janesville Jets during the 2021-22 season, recording 15 points in 34 games played. During the 2022-23 season, he split time between New Jersey and Amarillo, posting 52 points in 54 games played.

He is the 10th player on the 2023-24 Titans roster who has made an NCAA Division I commitment.
