NAHL Weekend Preview
The NAHL continues play this weekend as October rolls on with 30 games on Friday and Saturday.
There were eight more NCAA Division I commitments this week, which brings the current 2023-24 season total to 102 players in the NAHL who have made commitments.
This weekend also marks the debut of the NAHL’s Video Replay Review system specifically for goals. Each NAHL arena has been equipped with goal cameras, and referees will be able to view video replays in the penalty box or another location within close proximity to the ice surface. Referees will review goals and render decisions in accordance with specific parameters.
In the Central Division this weekend, the Bismarck Bobcats are fresh off a 5-4 overtime win on Thursday in Minot and return home to host the 1st place Austin Bruins this weekend. The Minotauros stay at home as they host St. Cloud on Friday and Saturday. Meanwhile, the North Iowa Bulls look to snap an 8-game slide as they host the Aberdeen Wings.
In the East Division, things are tight at the top as Maryland and Northeast are tied for 1st place with 20 points. The Black Bears host the 3rd place New Hampshire Mountain Kings, who have won three in a row. The Generals, who have also won three straight, are on the road to face the Philadelphia Rebels. In other action, Danbury hosts Maine, who sit in 4th place and the New Jersey Titans are on the road to face Rochester. Johnstown is idle.
In the Midwest, it’s a battle for 1st place as the Chippewa Steel, who have won seven straight games, have a home-and-home series with the Minnesota Wilderness, who have won six straight and are tied atop the division Steel, each with 16 points. The 3rd place Janesville Jets are in Alaska to face Anchorage. Kenai River looks to snap a five-game slide as they host Wisconsin, and Fairbanks will host the Springfield Jr. Blues.
In the South Division, two of the top teams clash again as the Lone Star Brahmas put their six-game winning streak on the line as they host Shreveport. The 2nd place El Paso Rhinos will look to keep their hot play going as they host the Odessa Jackalopes. The New Mexico Ice Wolves return home to host the Corpus Christi IceRays. Oklahoma looks to stay hot as they are in Amarillo for a pair of games. The Colorado Grit are idle.
