NAHL Weekend Preview
The NAHL is back in action this weekend with 26 games as the calendar turns from September to October. This weekend features the home-opening games for six more teams.
Since the NAHL Showcase, four players have made NCAA Division I commitments and the NAHL currently has 88 players in the league in 2023-24 who are committed to play hockey at NCAA Division I schools.
This weekend in the Central Division, the Bismarck Bobcats have their home opener as they welcome the North Iowa Bulls to town. The Bulls are off to a 1-4 start, while the Bobcats are 3-3, which included a weekend road sweep of Aberdeen last week. The Wings look to get back to the winning side of things as they travel to St. Cloud for the Norsemen’s home-opening weekend. Both Austin and Minot are idle.
In the East Division, an early battle for 1st place goes down in Attleboro as the 1st place Northeast Generals host the Maine Nordiques, who are in 4th place and just three points behind. Johnstown has their home-opening weekend as they host New Hampshire. The New Jersey Titans, who sit at 4-4-0 on the young season, also have their home-opening weekend as they host the Rochester Jr. Americans. The final series features the 2nd place Maryland Black Bears hosting Danbury for two games. Philadelphia is idle this weekend.
In the Midwest this weekend, the 1st place Janesville Jets look to keep their hot start going as they host Fairbanks on Friday. The Ice Dogs then face the Steel on Saturday. The 2nd place Kenai River Brown Bears look to keep their hot start going as they face the Wisconsin Windigo in Eagle River. The Springfield Jr. Blues are looking for their first win as they travel to take on the Minnesota Wilderness. Anchorage is idle.
In the South, eight of the nine teams are in action. The Amarillo Wranglers have their home-opening weekend against the Corpus Christi IceRays, while the Lone Star Brahmas also open their home slate against the Shreveport Mudbugs.
