Shreveport defenseman Heroux makes NCAA DI commitment
The Shreveport Mudbugs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman Logan Heroux has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Ferris State University in the CCHA.
Heroux, 20, just completed his second season playing for the Mudbugs in the NAHL. The 6’2/195 lbs. native of Middletown, NJ, appeared in 55 games during the 2022-23 regular season and recorded 40 points (10 goals, 30 assists), which ranked 2nd on the team in scoring and was tops among all Mudbugs defensemen.
He was named the NAHL's South Division Star of the Week for January 2-8, 2023.
“I’m extremely proud to announce my commitment to play Division 1 hockey at Ferris State University. I’d like to thank my family, teammates, and coaches who have supported me along the way,” said Heroux.
“Logan has had an outstanding year and a half with the Mudbugs. He put up some great offensive numbers this season but what’s more impressive is the work he put in to be a better defender as well. His +35 shows his commitment to being a well-rounded player and having a team first mentality. Ferris State is getting a quality player, and a quality kid that never runs out of energy,” said Mudbugs head coach Jason Campbell.
During the 2021-22 season, Heroux appeared in 23 games for the Mudbugs and recorded six points. He also appeared in 11 career Robertson Cup Playoff games and recorded two points.
Prior to playing in the NAHL, Heroux played for the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies and Christian Brothers Academy.
