Anchorage goalie Rissanen makes NCAA commitment
The Anchorage Wolverines of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that goaltender Eino Rissanen has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for the College of St. Scholastica.
Rissanen, 20, joined the Wolverines shortly after the beginning of the 2022-23 season and appeared in 18 games for Anchorage during the 2022-23 season. The 6’2/181 lbs. native of Sonviller, Switzerland, posted an 8-7-2 record, a .889 save percentage, and a 3.72 goals against average while playing for the team.
Head coach Nick Walters had high praise for the Swiss netminder. “Eino was a late addition to our team, but made an immediate impact to the dynamic of our team in the locker room, during practice, and games. He helped our goaltending depth reach new levels. The College of St. Scholastica is getting a true professional and an individual that will continually push not only himself but others around him to be the best players they can be.”
“Eino is a tremendous young man,” said Director of Hockey Ops Keith Morris. “He is a hard-working and committed player. His commitment provides an outstanding opportunity for both Eino and the College of St. Scholastica.”
“I chose the College of St. Scholastica because they have exactly what I was looking for, I’m convinced that their program can help me a lot in my development,” said Rissanen. “They’re a winning team and they want to win as much as I do, we’re aiming for the championship. I have heard great things about the school and Duluth, so I am very glad and super excited to go there!”
