Philadelphia goalie Krbecek makes NCAA DI commitment
The Philadelphia Rebels of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that goaltender Jakub Krbecek has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Krbecek, 20, just completed his first season playing in North America and in the NAHL and third season of junior hockey overall.
The 6’2/180 lbs. native of Praha, Czechia, was one of the busiest and top goalies in the NAHL during the 2022-23 season. He led the NAHL in games played (51), saves (1,708), shots faced (1,832). He ranked 3rd in save percentage with a .927 mark and was tied for 4th in wins with 25.
Krbecek was named the East Division Star of the Week four times during the 2022-23 regular season and was named to the All-East Division Team for the 2022-23 season.
“I am honored to announce my commitment to play D1 hockey at RIT. Thank you to my family, coaches and teammates along the way,” said Krbecek.
Prior to playing in the NAHL, Krbecek played his youth and junior hockey with HC Sparta Praha in his home country of Czechia.
