Sunday Wrap-Up: Black Bears roll to three-game sweep
Johnstown 2 @ Maryland 4 – The Black Bears completed a three-game weekend home sweep of the Tomahawks thanks to a 4-2 win on Sunday. Four different players scored for Maryland, who outshot Johnstown in the game, 43-16. Maryland took a 2-0 lead early in the 1st period thanks to goals from Christian Catalano and Branden Piku. Before the end of the period, Anthony Galante scored for the Tomahawks to make it 2-1. In the 2nd period, the Black Bears increased the lead to 4-1 with goals from Gabriel Westling and Trey Scott. James Barbour would add the other goal for the Tomahawks. Jack Wieneke made 14 saves in the win, while Matt O’Donnell made 39 saves in the loss.
Wisconsin 7 @ Anchorage 2 – Five different players had multi-point games, including two goals from Zachary Burfoot and four points from Victor Widlund as the Windigo won their second game of a three-game set in Anchorage thanks to a 7-2 win on Sunday. An active 1st period saw Wisconsin jump out to a 4-2 lead. Widlund scored frist for the Windigo, but the Wolverines had an answer with back-to-back goals from David Tolan and Kyler Bauer to take a 2-1 lead. It was all Windigo after that as goals from Luke Levandowski, Will Schumacher, and Burfoot later in the 1st period made it 4-2. Goals from Paul Huglen and Samuel Jacobs in the 2nd period and another from Burfoot in the 3rd period completed the 7-2 win. Maxwell Beckford made 21 saves in the win.
