Shreveport forward Onstott makes NCAA commitment

The Shreveport Mudbugs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Jacob Onstott has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Aurora University.
Onstott, 20, is in his second and final season playing junior hockey in the NAHL for the Mudbugs. The 5’11/175 lbs. native of Zeeland, MI, has recorded 15 points (1 goal, 14 assists) in 47 games played to date during the 2021-22 season.
During his rookie campaign in 2020-21, Onstott recorded 9 points in 30 regular season games and played in two Robertson Cup Playoff games to help the Mudbugs capture the Robertson Cup Championship.
“Jacob has done things the right way on and off the ice since stepping foot in Shreveport last year. We know exactly what we will get from him every day. He can fill any role we ask and do a great job with it. He’s been a huge part of our PK, steps in on the PP when needed, and plays both center and wing. His hockey IQ is what allows him to be so versatile,” said Mudbugs head coach Jason Campbell. “He is also great off the ice. Whether it’s reading to kids, post-game skates with fans, or showing up at birthdays, he has the personality to handle it all. Jacob will be missed in Shreveport but headed for a great opportunity at Aurora.”
Prior to playing in the NAHL, Onstott played high school hockey in Michigan for Grand Rapids Catholic Central and also in the MDHL.
