NAHL Weekend Preview

The NAHL gets back into action this weekend with 23 games and just one month remaining in the 2020-21 regular season.
Just four weeks remain in the 2020-21 regular season and four of the 12 available playoff spots have been clinched to date.
The 2021 Robertson Cup Playoffs begin the third week in May and the top four teams in each division will qualify for the post-season. The four divisional playoff winners will meet for the 2021 Robertson Cup Championship, which is scheduled to be held at Fogerty Arena in Blaine, MN, from June 18-22.
Several more players announced NCAA Division commitments this past week. That brings bringing the current season total to 290 players (including a new record of 269 Division I commitments) who are playing in the league and are committed to playing NCAA hockey in 2020-21.
In the Central Division this weekend 1st and 2nd place face-off as Aberdeen and Bismarck clash in a home-and-home series. The Bobcats are just a few wins away from clinching a playoff spot, while the Wings need nine wins in their final 11 games to set a new NAHL single-season record. Fresh off of back-to-back wins for the first time this season, the Austin Bruins travel to Minot to face the 3rd place Minotauros, who are on a small two-game slide. The St. Cloud Norsemen look to continue their winning ways as they face the Minnesota Wilderness in a home-and-home series.
In the East, the 1st place Johnstown Tomahawks are just a few wins away from clinching the first playoff spot in the division as they look to snap their small two-game slide against New Jersey, who has won two in a row. Meanwhile, the Maine Nordiques look to end a five-game losing streak as they take to the road to face the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks for three games. The battle for the 4th and final playoff spot heats up as the Maryland Black Bears host the Northeast Generals with the Generals five points back of Maryland for the final playoff spot.
In the Midwest, the Janesville Jets look to build on a 7-0 shutout on Thursday over Chippewa as they face the Steel two more times this weekend. The Steel will have a new head coach behind the bench on Friday and Saturday as Mike Janda takes over for Carter Foguth.
In the South, the New Mexico Ice Wolves look to slow down the red-hot Shreveport Mudbugs, who have won nine of their last 10 games, in a three-game series in New Mexico. The Wichita Falls Warriors are just one win away from clinching the final playoff spot in South Division as they travel to Amarillo for three games against the Bulls. The Lone Star Brahmas look to keep pace with Shreveport as they host the Odessa Jackalopes for two games.
