Maryland, Lone Star pick up wins on Sunday

Lone Star forward Andrew DeCarlo had four points in a 5-1 win on Sunday and is now 3rd in NAHL scoring with 20 points in 14 games.
New Jersey 4 @ Maryland 5 – Grady Friedman scored twice and Jude Kurtas scored the game-winning goal late in the 3rd period to give the Black Bears a 5-4 win and earn a weekend split with the Titans. The entire game was a back-and-forth affair with the teams knotted at 2-2 after one period as Friedman scored both his goals for Maryland, while Stephen Willey and Jake Suede answered for New Jersey. The Titans took a 3-2 lead in the 2nd period on a goal from Evan Werner, but saw it evaporate on goals from Tanner Rowe and Garrett Szydlowski to make it 4-3. A goal from Caleb Price in the 3rd period tied the game for New Jersey at 4-4, but Kurtas scored the game-winner with under four minutes remaining. Karsten Bourgoine made 39 saves in the win, while Berk Berkeliev made 19 saves in the loss.
Lone Star 5 vs. New Mexico 1 – Recent Air Force commit Andrew DeCarlo had a huge night, scoring two goals and adding two assists, as the Brahmas completed a three-game sweep of the Ice Wolves thanks to a 5-1 win on Sunday. After a scoreless 1st period, the Brahmas erupted for four straight goals in the 2nd period to take a 4-0 lead, which included power play goals from DeCarlo, Nicholas Niemo, and Logan Tobias, along with an even strength goal from Luke Johnson. The Ice Wolves got on the board before the period was over with a power play goal of their own from Spencer Rudrud. DeCarlo would add his second goal of the game in the 3rd period, this time shorthanded. Brahmas goalie Rico Dematteo made 20 saves in the win, while Henrik Laursen took the loss with 12 saves.
