Blizzard rebrand as St. Cloud Norsemen

The St Cloud Blizzard of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) is proud to announce, effective immediately, its new name change and rebrand to the St. Cloud Norsemen.

 

Late last summer the team relocated from Brookings, South Dakota, to St. Cloud, Minnesota and did not have enough time to properly address all aspects of the move and connect with their new home in Central Minnesota. During this offseason management and marketing quickly started working on a name change and new identity that would suit the Greater St Cloud community and portray the characteristics and values of the team. It was through this exercise that the inspiration for the Norsemen came to be.

 

“The most important aspect of a team’s brand identity change is that it resonates with audiences and reflects who you are as an organization,” said Amy Hefti, the Marketing Director for the team. “We built the identity change with both our surrounding communities and our players in mind. The Norsemen are symbolic and aligns with heritage of Central Minnesota and are a legend our players can embrace. The Norsemen name and logo personifies the team in a way that allows us to connect with both fans and sponsors in a more meaningful way.”

 

“While the game of hockey is fast and often graceful, it also requires courage, grit, and resiliency, that’s what I like about our new name and logo,” said the team’s General Manager and former Stanley Cup winner, Tom Chorske. Our organization exists as a pathway to help young men achieve their goal of playing college hockey which requires all those traits. We also think we can have some fun with it…which is another element of the sport and our games,” added Chorske.

 

In the coming months, to the extent that is permitted, look for The Norsemen to host events, partner with others, and volunteer in the community so that the people of St Cloud can get better acquainted with the team. The team plans to handout items with the new logo at these events and will be offering merchandise for sale online.
