The Aberdeen Wings of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Nátán Vertes has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Alaska-Fairbanks in the WCHA.
Vertes, 19, played in 44 games during the 2019-20 season, his first season with the Wings and in the NAHL, recording 18 goals and 12 assists. The 5’11/172 lbs. native of Budapest, Hungary, was also the leading scorer for Team Hungary at the IIHF Division 1B World Junior Championships.
“Natan’s game continued to improved and rapidly advance through the season,” said Aberdeen Wings head coach Scott Langer. “His offensive skill and hockey IQ make him a difference maker. His abilities on and off the ice will allow him to be a difference maker at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.”
“I am proud, honored and excited to announce my commitment to play NCAA Division 1 hockey at Alaska-Fairbanks,” Vertes said. “I would like to thank my family; friends; coaches, past and present; teammates; the Wings family, who helped me get to this point; and God for this opportunity of a lifetime.”
