April 9, 2020

The Odessa Jackalopes of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are excited to announce that forward Sam Harris has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Aurora University.
“I am beyond excited to further my education and hockey career at Aurora University,” said Harris. “I am very thankful for my family, friends, teammates, and coaches that have supported me throughout my career. Coach Adam was a great supporter during my recruiting process, and I would like to thank him for everything he’s done for me this past season.”
The 5’8/185 lbs. native of Naples, Florida, Harris finished this past NAHL season with six goals and one assist for seven points while a member of both the Maine Nordiques and the Odessa Jackalopes. Harris’ contributions were some of the more impactful this season, this includes the Jackalopes’ only overtime winning goal which came against the Topeka Pilots on March 6 at the Ector County Coliseum.
Harris, 20, will join fellow teammate and forward Jack Rudin, who also committed to Aurora University this offseason.
“We are very happy for Sam committing to Aurora University. Sam will be a great addition to their hockey program and university,” said interim head coach Adam Phillips. “Sam was starting to play really well for us down the stretch and I’m excited for him to continue his play in his college hockey career. He’s a player who works hard and has done everything asked of him. He takes things very seriously and is constantly working at his game and is eager to learn. His professional approach will allow him to achieve success on the ice and in the classroom.”
Aurora University is located in Aurora, Illinois. The Spartans play at the Division III level and are a part of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.
