November 14, 2019

The Shreveport Mudbugs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Anton Rubtsov has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for the University of Alaska-Fairbanks in the WCHA.
Rubtsov, 20, is in his third and final season of playing hockey in the NAHL, with the past two years being spent playing for the Mudbugs. The 5’11/170 lbs. native of St. Petersburg, Russia, has appeared in six games so far during the 2019-20 season and recorded three points (1 goal, 2 assists). Rubtsov was injured during a game in September and expected to be back in the line-up after Thanksgiving.
Rubtsov has appeared in 70 career NAHL regular season games and recorded 32 career points (11 goals, 21 assists). He made his NAHL debut in 2016-17 with the Lone Star Brahmas and has spent the past two seasons with the Mugbugs.
He was also selected to and played in the 2019 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the South Division team where he had one goal in two games played.
“Anton is a highly-skilled forward that is very elusive to defenders. He has good speed, agility and is very strong on pucks. He’s good in tight areas and has great playmaking abilities. The icing on the cake though is that his teammates love him and his work ethic is next to none on and off the ice. This is such a great opportunity for Anton and the Mudbugs are excited to see him play at the next level,” said Mudbugs head coach Jason Campbell.
