Brookings defenseman Babiak makes NCAA DI commitment
April 15, 2019

The Brookings Blizzard of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman and captain Cam Babiak has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Bowling Green State University in the WCHA.
Babiak, 19, just completed his third season of playing in the NAHL for the Blizzard. The 6’1/192 lbs. native of Saline, Michigan, appeared in 46 games during the 2018-19 season and recorded 11 points.
Babiak was selected to the 2019 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, but did not play in the event due to injury.
Overall in his three-year NAHL career, he has played in 114 career games and posted 26 points.
“I picked Bowling Green because I loved the coaching staff, and I felt like it would be a really good fit for me and my development both as a hockey player and a student in the classroom,” Babiak told MiHockey.com. “Also both of my parents went there, and my mom was on the BGSU tennis team, so Bowling Green has an extremely special place in my heart.”
“I can’t thank everyone enough who has helped me move on to get to the next level. Without Coach Moe, my billets, and my teammates none of this would have been possible. Moe is a very knowledgeable coach, who has played, and coached at all levels of hockey and he has helped develop me not only as a player, but as a person," Babiak continued.
“We are extremely proud to announce Cam’s commitment to Bowling Green, and excited for him and his family,” said Blizzard Head Coach Moe Mantha. “He is the Captain of our team, he has lead by example, leadership, work ethic and commitment to the organization on the ice and to the community of Brookings. Cam will be a tremendous addition to Bowling Green as well as an excellent student.”
