The Northeast Generals of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are excited to announce that forward and assistant captain Mike Egan has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Babson College.
Egan, 20 was drafted by the Northeast Generals in the 2nd round of the NAHL Draft in 2016 prior to their inaugural season and made an immediate impact, registering 24 points in 56 games played during the 2016-17 season.
After an amazing off-season, the 5’11/175 lbs. local product of Billerica, Massachusetts, returned to the Generals having been named as an Assistant Captain. Egan wasted no time in helping the Generals turn around the franchise fortunes as he scored right away in the opening game. The accolades and good season continued as he was named player of the week for his performance at the NAHL Showcase after scoring 3 goals and adding 3 assists in leading the Generals to a 4-0 record.
The hot start continued and Egan put up a Northeast Generals record 51 points on the season (good for 16th in the league) and was named to the 2018 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament and played for the East Division team where he added 2 goals in 2 games.
“Mike was so good for us as an organization. He set such a great tone on and off the ice from day 1 and really helped shape us into a great team. He worked so hard and was such an asset in the locker room that he made my and Joe’s (Head Coach Joe Lovell) job so much easier as he kept the locker room, bench and practice ice running smoothly,” said GM Bryan Erikson.
“We couldn’t be happier for Mike. Babson gets a great player and better person. He works so hard and has a ton of skill. We look forward to watching Mike develop. He is going to be a hard person and player to replace,” added head coach Joe Lovell.
