Wilderness fight off elimination with Game 3 win
April 7, 2014

Wenatchee Wild 0 @ Minnesota Wilderness 4 (Wenatchee leads best of five series, 2-1) – The Minnesota Wilderness fought off elimination with a Game 3 4-0 win on Sunday to stay alive in their Midwest Division Semi-Final series.
It took almost the entire 1st period for the scoring to start after both goalies made some good saves. Jaycob McCombs sprung himself free from the Wenatchee defense and found himself on a partial breakaway and he let go a shot from the low slot that was slowed up by Wild goaltender Chase Perry, but eventually trickled across the goal line for a 1-0 lead.
The Wilderness pushed the lead to 2-0 early in the 2nd period after a Wenatchee turn over at the Wildnerness blue led to a 3 on 1 going the other way for Minnesota. Jakob Romo carried the puck in down the right side and slid a shot far side past Perry for a two-goal lead. Romo would strike again about 12 minutes later as Thomas Lindstrom won an offensive zone face-off to the point where Jesse Kessler fired a shot on goal, which was stopped by Perry, but the rebound came right to Romo who put a shot in the open net for a 3-0 lead.
The rest of the way belong to Wilderness goalie Kasimir Kaskisuo, who made 24 saves for his first shutout of the playoffs and 10th shutout overall this season.
The series now shifts back to Wenatchee for Game 4 on Friday, April 11th.
