Magicians play spoiler in 3-1 win over Chill Thursday

Minnesota Magicians 3 @ Coulee Region Chill 1 – The Minnesota Magicians played the role of spoiler on Thursday night as they went into Onalaska and beat the Chill, 3-1. The loss for Coulee Region leaves them two points out of the 4th and final playoff spot in the Midwest Division with two games to play. The star of the night was Magicians goaltender Atte Tolvanen, who turned away 43 shots on the night.
The 1st period was even with the Magicians taking a 1-0 lead on a goal from Matt Colford. Two minutes later, Coulee Region knotted the score with their only goal of the night from Bryan Kronberger.
The Magicians broke the game open in the 2nd period as they scored twice to take a 3-1 lead, which would hold the rest of the game. Tony Uglem scored just :15 seconds into the frame with the eventual game-winner and Mario Bianchi added an insurance goal with about six minutes to go in the period.
From there, it was all Tolvanen, who made 18 saves in the 3rd period alone. Adam Carlson made 25 saves in the loss. With the loss, the Chill not only have to win their next two games, but also hope for losses by Kenai River and Wenatchee who are two and three points ahead of them respectively with two games to go.
