Roadrunners Hockey, LLC (d/b/a The Topeka Roadrunners) is proud to announce a 10-year contract extension for head coach Scott Langer. Langer has been head coach and general manager of the Topeka Roadrunners for the last 9 years.
“Scott is family to us and thus we felt it was important to give him a long term contract” said Managing Member Don Stone.
Stone continued... “This new contract with Scott will demonstrate to the hockey community our long-term approach and perspective to our hockey organization. The shared commitment by Scott and ownership has resulted in a program that is admired for its accomplishments on and off the ice. We are greatly appreciative of everything he has done to make our NAHL franchise so successful.”
Per corporate guidelines, the terms of the contract have not been disclosed.
Langer’s overall record (359-149-50) reflects the team’s successes on the ice. During his tenure, he has guided the team to the postseason play in eight of his nine years. In October he achieved his 350th career win. He has won the NAHL South Division Regular Season Title three times, made it to the Division Finals five times, and participated in the Robertson Cup Tournament twice.
Coach Langer was awarded the NAHL Coach of the Year in 2010-11, and NAHL General Manager of the Year in 2009-10. Langer’s successful record has earned him a coaching spot on the NAHL Top Prospect’s Event for six consecutive years.
“I am thrilled to sign a 10-year contract with the Topeka RoadRunners Organization." Langer said. "I have received incredible support from ownership beginning the first day they took over the organization. Don Stone has provided our program and student-athletes everything we have needed to be successful both on and off the ice. I am both inspired and energized by this commitment to me as we transition into the New Year."
