Weekend Wrap-Up: Ice Dogs make statement in Wenatchee

Fairbanks 5 @ Wenatchee 2 – The Ice Dogs went into Wenatchee and took two of three games, proving that the race for the West Division title still is going to be a dogfight as they won the third game of a three game series in Wenatchee on Sunday by a 5-2 score. Fairbanks fired just 15 shots on goal, but five managed to get by both Wenatchee goaltenders Robert Nichols and Nick Schmit. Meanwhile, Ice Dogs goalie Steve Perry made 26 saves in the win. Jayson Angus, Devin Loe, Kyle Lee, Brett Gervais and Colton Wolter scored for Fairbanks while Brian Williams and Chris Kerr had the Wild goals. Boxscore
Johnstown 1 @ Michigan 8 – The Warriors completed an incredible week of five wins in seven days as they handled the visiting Johnstown Tomahawks 8-1 on Sunday. Eight different players had multi-point games for the Warriors and goaltender Trevor Gorsuch, who was in goal for all five wins, made 35 saves. Eight different Warriors players had goals including Brock Labelle, Luke Fiegl, Zack Szajner, Colin Larkin, Levi Erkkila, AJ Marcinek, Corey Schueneman and Jake Faiella. Kenai River 1 @ Fresno 3 – Despite being outshot 35-16, the Monsters got 34 saves from Macauley Haight as they took two of three games in a weekend home series against Kenai River thanks to a 3-1 win on Sunday. All was looking good for Kenai River after two periods as they led 1-0 on a goal from Brad LeLievre in the 1st period. However, Fresno mounted a comeback in the 3rd period with three goals in a six minute span from Karl Andersen, Matt Salituro and Trevor Husch. Boxscore
