Maryland defenseman Darby makes NCAA DI commitment
The Maryland Black Bears of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman Jack Darby has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Long Island University.
Darby, 19, made his NAHL debut with the Black Bears this past Spring. The 6’4/185 lbs. native of New Hartford, NY, appeared in four games during the 2022-23 regular season with the Black Bears and recorded one point. He made his NAHL debut on March 24, 2023.
“We had Jack skate at our main camp in the Summer of 2022 and really appreciated his game. He has the size, skating ability, and skill set to be a very good NAHL defenseman. We were excited to add him to the team for some games this past season and look forward to seeing him develop,” said Black Bears head coach Clint Mylymok.
Darby spent the majority of the 2022-23 season with Albany Academy, serving as team captain.
