New Jersey defenseman Karlsson makes NCAA commitment

June 20, 2022

The New Jersey Titans, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that defenseman Jack Karlsson has committed to play NCAA Division III Ice Hockey for the Stevenson University Mustangs who play in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC). His commitment begins in the fall of September 2022.

In two seasons with the Titans,  the 5’9/180 lbs. native of Koping, Sweden, accumulated 26 total points (5 goals and 21) in 81 regular season games.

During the 2021-22 season, Karlsson, 20, had 18 total points (3 goals and 15 assists) in 53 games. Karlsson had five total points (all assists) in 13 games during the Titans run to the 2022 Robertson Cup championship.

“I would like to thank all my family, friends, coaches and teammates who have supported me throughout my journey. I’m looking forward to playing collegiate hockey,” stated Karlsson.

“Jack Karlsson is exactly what every winning team needs,” said Titans head coach and general manager Craig Doremus. “I couldn’t be prouder of or happy for Jack and his family on his commitment to Stevenson.  Jack was a huge part of our team for the last and a half after joining us from Sweden.  He integrated into our locker room and culture seamlessly.  He became a very well-respected veteran player quickly.  Jack is going to be a great addition to the Stevenson hockey team and student body.  Simply said Jack is a winner.  I thoroughly enjoyed after each win meeting Jack by his stall after our game as we were often one of the first in the dressing room.  Jack cared about winning first and foremost over any individual accolades.  Simply put there is no Robertson Cup in New Jersey without Jack Karlsson.  I will miss getting to work with Jack daily and I am jealous the guys in Stevenson get to coach him for four years.  We look forward to following his career and him being a part of New Jersey Titans’ history forever.”

Stevenson University is in Stevenson, MD. The Mustangs are coached by Dominick Dawes.
