Anchorage forward Bischoff makes NCAA DI commitment
The Anchorage Wolverines of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Hunter Bischoff has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Augustana University in the CCHA.
In his first season of junior hockey in the NAHL with the Wolverines, Bischoff, 19, was a consistent force for the Wolverines in the regular season, posting 13 goals and 23 assists for 36 points.
During the post-season, the 6’2/180 lbs. native of Grand Rapids, MN, really shined in the Robertson Cup Playoffs for the team, racking up 5 goals and 2 assists for 7 points in just 10 games as the Wolverines made it all the way to the Robertson Cup title game.
“I chose Augustana because it checked all my boxes. It’s close to home, a good academic school, and I like the idea of building something new similar to the Wolverines,” said Bischoff.
Augustana University is located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and is set to begin its first ever NCAA Division I hockey campaign in the fall of 2023. The Vikings will compete in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA). Augustana will become the first and only Division I hockey program in South Dakota. Bischoff is the first player in team history to announce his commitment to the school.
Wolverines Head Coach Mike Aikens added, “We are excited for Hunter. He made great strides this season with the Wolverines. His character and great work ethic will lead to success at Augustana as they build their program.”
“Hunter is an outstanding player but a better person. He had a fantastic season for us playing a strong two-way game. He is going to have a great career at Augustana for Coach Raboin,” said Director of Hockey Operations Keith Morris.
