Warriors defenseman Tornqvist makes NCAA DI commitment
The Oklahoma Warriors of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that Top Prospects defenseman Philip Tornqvist has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Vermont in Hockey East.
Tornqvist, 20, just completed his fourth season of playing junior hockey, three of which were spent in the NAHL. The 6’0/181 lbs. native of Gothenburg, Sweden, began the 2021-22 season with the Maryland Black Bears, recording 13 points (8 goals, 5 assists) in 25 games played.
Right around New Year’s, Tornqvist was traded to Wichita Falls to play for the Warriors. In 27 regular season games with the Warriors this season, Tornqvist recorded 20 points, which included 12 goals and 8 assists. His 20 goals this season tied for the lead among all NAHL defensemen.
Tornqvist was also selected to and played in the 2022 NAHL Top Propects Tournament for the South Division team.

Tornqvist made his NAHL debut with the Aberdeen Wings during the 2019-20 season, appearing in seven games. During the 2020-21 season, he appeared in 32 games with the Black Bears and recorded 10 points.
Overall, in his NAHL career, Tornqvist had 44 points in 91 career regular season games.
