Fairbanks defenseman Shasby makes NCAA DI commitment

January 11, 2022

The Fairbanks Ice Dogs, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that defenseman Camden Shasby has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Western Michigan University in the NCHC.

Shasby, 17, is in his first full season of playing junior hockey in the NAHL. The 5’10/160 lbs. native of Anchorage, AK, is having a remarkable rookie season, as he is currently leading all Ice Dogs defensemen in scoring with 20 points (4 goals, 16 assists) in 33 games played so far this season.

Shasby made his NAHL debut back on February 19, 2021 with the Kenai River Brown Bears and appeared in three NAHL games during the 2020-21 season, recording two assists.

Shasby previously played for Fox Motors at the 16U and 15U levels.

His father, Matt Shasby, is currently the head coach for the University of Alaska-Anchorage men’s NCAA Division I hockey team.
