Brahmas and Wilderness win close games on Sunday

Wilderness forward Ethan Wolthers scored his 10th goal of the season in a 2-1 win on Sunday.
Lone Star 2 @ Amarillo 1 (SO) – Brahmas goalie Jan Skorpik was a star in goal for the second straight night as he made 31 saves through regulation and OT and then stopped all three Wranglers shooters in the shootout to lead Lone Star to a 2-1 win and weekend sweep of the Wranglers. The Brahmas got on the board early in the 1st period with a goal from Blake Benson. The Wranglers didn’t tie the game until the final minutes of regulation as Kristaps Skrastins scored his 19th goal of the season with just 1:57 in regulation to knot the game at 1-1. After a scorless OT, Benson the scored the only goal in the shootout to secure the win and sweep for the Brahmas. Wranglers goalie Max Gutjahr made 27 saves in the loss.
Anchorage 1 @ MN Wilderness 2 – The Wilderness snapped a nine-game losing streak thanks to 32 combined saves from Graham Burke and Konrad Kausch in a 2-1 win over the Wolverines, salvaging one win in the three-game series. It took the Wolverines just :20 seconds to score the game’s first goal as Collin Pederson scored to make it 1-0. The Wilderness had an answer just :33 seconds later as Ethan Wolthers scored his 10th goal of the season to make it 1-1. Early in the 3rd period, the game-winner came from Nicholas Rexine. Both Burke and Kausch made 16 saves in the win, while Shane Soderwall made 28 saves in the loss.
