Magicians forward McCabe makes NCAA DI commitment

July 7, 2021

The Minnesota Magicians of the NAHL are pleased to announce that forward Devlin McCabe has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Lindenwood University.

Lindenwood is a new NCAA program and will field an NCAA Division I men's team beginning in the 2022-23 season.

McCabe, 21, just completed his second season of playing in the NAHL and fourth season overall of junior hockey. The 5’11/181 lbs. native of St. Paul, MN, tied for 2nd in team scoring during the 2020-21 regular season with 34 points (10 goals, 24 assists) in 47 games played.

McCabe was also 2nd in playoff scoring, helping the Magicians win the Midwest Division playoff crown and get the Robertson Cup Championship, posting nine points in 10 playoff games.

“After a long journey of ups and downs throughout my Jr. career, I’m excited to call Lindenwood University home to further my education and hockey career! Huge thanks to the Magicians staff for getting me ready for this next step! Honored to start representing the Lions,” said McCabe in a post on Twitter.

Overall in two seasons in the NAHL with the Magicians, McCabe appeared in 71 career regular season games and had 53 points.

Prior to playing in the NAHL, McCabe spent two seasons in the USHL with the Sioux City Musketeers and Lincoln Stars.

Before junior hockey, he played four years of high school hockey in Minnesota for St. Paul Academy.
