Friday Finals: Blizzard snap streak, make statement with win

Blake Bennett scored the overtime-winning goal on Friday night as Corpus Christi beat Lone Star.

Brookings 7 @ Minot 2 - The Brookings Blizzard offense exploded for a season-high seven goals on Friday nights as they took down the Tauros’ 7-2. Vince Marino could not be stopped as he scored twice and assisted on two other goals. Kendrick Frost scored two goals of his own in the victory for the Blizzard. John Israel, John Kaljian, Bud Winter and Ryan Green all visited the red light district in the Brookings win. Kyle Oleksuiukc and Nick Strom scored for Minot in the los. George McBey picked up the win by stopping 33 of 35 shots. Ben Garrity and Nicholas Grabko combined for 21 stops for Minot.
Jamestown 3 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 1 - Jim Glynn’s power play goal in the third period proved to be the game winner as the Rebels outlasted the Knights 3-1 on Friday afternoon. Noah Finstrom got the scoring started with a goal in the opening minutes to give Jamestown the early lead. After a quiet second period, the Knights tied the game as Davis Pennington netted his fourth of the year. Caleb Price would tack on an empty netter and the Rebels finished the series sweep. Ryan Keane got the win in goal as he made 21 saves. Zach Stejskal took the loss despite making 42 saves.
Lone Star 2 @ Corpus Christi 3 (OT) - Blake Bennett continued his hot streak as he scored the game winning goal in overtime as the IceRays came from behind to beat the Brahmas 3-2. Jordan Randall provided all the offense in regulation as he netted two goals. Sam Best wasn’t too busy but he stopped 17 of 19 shots he faced. Michal Stinil had a goal and an assist for Lone Star while Vilho Saariluoma also scored for the Brahmas. Harrison Feeney stopped 28 of 31 shots in the loss. 
Bismarck 3 @ Austin 1 - Bismarck handed the Austin Bruins their third straight loss as the Bobcats defeated the Bruins 3-1. Mitch Walinski, Daniel Chladek and Adam Stacho all found the back of the net for Bismarck. Reginald Millette had the only goal for the Bruins. John Roberts got the win in net for Bismarck as he made 29 saves. Kyle McClellan was dealt the loss as he stopped 19 Bismarck shots.
New Jersey 3 @ Johnstown 4 - The Johnstown Tomahawks winning streak extended to 11 on Friday night as they knocked off the New Jersey Titans 4-3. Roman Kraemer, Andy Nedejkovic, Colin Price and Mitchell Hale all got in on the scoring. Kyler Head, Cam Gendron and Zach Nazzarett all lit the lamp for New Jersey. Carter McPhail was magnificent as he stopped 41 shots to preserve the win for his club. Matt Ladd picked up the loss.
Topeka 2 @ Springfield 1 - The Topeka Pilots snapped their losing skid with a 2-1 victory over the Springfield Jr. Blues. Kyler Yeo and Hugh Quinn were the goal scorers for Topeka while Emil Gransoe turned aside 28 shots for the win. Jonathan Panisa grabbed the lone goal for the Jr. Blues, Jack Williams was given the loss as he made 18 stops. 
MN Wilderness 2 @ Chippewa 1 - The Wilderness scored two goals in the first and never looked back as they beat Chippewas 2-1. Jacob Herter and Dylan Johnson found the back of the net for Minnesota. Ryan Fanti was incredible as he stopped 40 shots to pick up his seventh win of the year. Austin Mikesch scored the only goal for the Steel, while Josh Langford made 15 saves for Chippewa.
Odessa 3 @ Shreveport 4 - The Mudbugs overcame a two-goal deficit in the third period to knock off the Odessa Jackalopes 4-3. Jay Feiwell scored twice and added an assist in the win. Ethan Harrison and C.J. McGee both scored a goal and had an assist for Shreveport as well. Leo Chuard denied 40 Odessa shots. Jared Christy, Zach Heintz, and Rex Moe found the back of the net for Odessa. Kade Phipps was dealt the loss as he made 35 saves. 
Janesville 2 @ MN Magicians 3 (SO)  - Jake Seitz’s beautiful goal in the shootout propelled the Minnesota Magicians to a win over the Janesville Jets. Cameron Buhl had a goal and an assist while Chris Konin also lit the lamp for the Magicians. Ethan Haider earned the win in goal as he won his 10th game of the season. Brendan MacLaren and Matt Hanewall provided the offense for Janesville in regulation. Cole Brady made 28 saves for the Jets.
