Johnstown defenseman Suffredini makes NCAA commitment

May 18, 2016
The Johnstown Tomahawks, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that defenseman Dante Suffredini has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at UMass-Boston, a program that competes in the New England Hockey Conference.
UMass-Boston advanced all the way to the NCAA Division III Frozen Four this past season.
Former Tomahawks forward Garrison Sanipass finished his freshman year with the Beacons in 2016.
Suffredini, 20, just completed his fourth season of playing in the NAHL. Suffredini (5’10/180) earned career numbers in goals, assists and points in his first and final season with the Tomahawks. The defensemen scored 17 points (five goals, 12 assists) in 58 games.
Suffredini broke into the NAHL during the 2012-13 season with the Soo Eagles.  He also spent time with the Janesville Jets. The native of Shelby Township, Michigan has appeared in 172 career NAHL games and recorded 38 points.
"Dante was a vital part of our defensive unit this season, providing solid play and veteran experience all year," Head Coach Mike Letizia said. "He was someone we were familiar with over the years as an opponent and getting him on our team for his final year really helped our success. UMass-Boston is excited about him coming in and I think he should immediately make an impact there and have a great college career."
