Wilderness and Bulls post shutouts on Wednesday

Austin Bruins 0 @ Minnesota Wilderness 3 – If those that didn’t think the Minnesota Wilderness were for real this season, they got a big dose of proof on Wednesday night as the Midwest leaders hosted the leaders from the Central, the Austin Bruins, and shut them out 3-0. Goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo posted his second straight shutout and league-leading fifth overall as he made 20 saves in the win. Kaskisuo’s shutout streak now stands at 172 minutes and 54 seconds. After a scoreless 1st period in which Minnesota outshot Austin 14-5, the Wilderness got on the board twice in the 2nd period with goals :44 seconds apart from defensemen Richard Buri and Terry Leabo. Jakob Romo added a late 3rd period empty-net goal to secure the win for the Wilderness, who moved to 12-2-3 on the season. Amarillo Bulls 7 @ Lone Star Brahmas 0 – Amarillo’s third shutout in the last four games gave the South leaders a 7-0 win and weekday series sweep of the Lone Star Brahmas. It was domination from start to finish for the Bulls on Wednesday as they outshot Lone Star 36-16. Brendan Vetter scored what was the eventual game-winning goal on a power play in the 1st period. Ryan Stevens and Matt Sieckhaus added 2nd period goals and Joe Grabowski, Mike Davis, Mitchell McPherson and Sieckhaus again added goals in the 3rd period. Sieckhaus had a four-point night giving him sole possession of the NAHL scoring lead with 25 points. Paul Berrafato stopped all 16 shots that came his way for his second consecutive shutout. Boxscore
