Saturday Scores: Jets fly past Chill

Jacob McDowell helped the Soo Eagles pick up a weekend home sweep of the Wenatchee Wild.

Janesville Jets 4 @ Coulee Region Chill 1 – The Jets picked up a big weekend road sweep and cooled off the Chill with a 4-1 win on Saturday night. Rookie netminder Logan Halladay was spectacular in goal, making 42 saves on the night for Janesville. The Jets scored just :53 seconds into the game on a goal from Carson Vance.  Kyle Patava and Michael Louria added 2nd period goals to make it 3-0.  After a Dunk Abbott power play goal ended the shutout hopes of Halladay, Janesville added their fourth goal on Louria’s second goal of the night. Springfield Jr. Blues 1 @ Michigan Warriors 4 – Trevor Gorsuch made 23 saves as the Michigan Warriors salvaged a weekend split against the Springfield Jr. Blues with a 4-1 win on Saturday night. After Springfield took an early 1-0 lead on a goal from Nick Belger, Michigan answered twice late in the 1st period to take a 2-1 lead on goals from Alec Pellegrino and John Nugent. After a scoreless 2nd period, Michigan added two more goals in the 3rd period from Jake Hopfner and Jon Farkas. Boxscore

Wenatchee Wild 2 @ Soo Eagles 3 (OT) – Jacob McDowell scored the game-tying goal with just :26 seconds remaining in the 3rd period and then Denver Pierce tipped home the overtime-winner on a shot from the point with just :50 seconds left in the extra session to give the Soo Eagles a come-from-behind 3-2 win to sweep the Wenatchee Wild. The teams traded goals in 1st period with River Rymsha scoring for the Wild and Jeremy Norway scoring for Soo. The Wild went up 2-1 in the 2nd period on a goal from Parker Tuomie, setting up the heroics late in the game. Boxscore

Corpus Christi IceRays 0 @ Amarillo Bulls 4 – Bulls goalie Paul Berrafato made 29 saves to shutout the IceRays and complete a weekend sweep for Amarillo. The Bulls opened up a quick 2-0 lead in the 1st period on goals from Mitchell McPherson and Matt Sieckhaus.  After no scoring in the 2nd period, the Bulls would add two more in the 3rd period from Kyle Gattelaro and Tyler Gernhofer. Brady Ferguson also chimed in with a two-assist night. Boxscore

Minot Minotauros 2 @ Minnesota Wilderness 3 – The Wilderness completed a weekend home sweep of the MInotauros thanks to a 3-2 win on Saturday.  The Wilderness got on the board first in the 1st period on a goal from Michael Covach. After a scoreless 2nd period, Minot would take a 2-1 lead early in the 3rd period on a penalty shot goal from Cameron Rowat and another goal from Johnny Walker. Minnesota came back with two goals later in the 3rd period to win 3-2 with markers from Terry Leabo and Johno May. Thomas Lindstrom assisted on all three Wilderness goals. Boxscore

Austin Bruins 2 @ Aberdeen Wings 6 – The Wings salvaged a weekend split with the red-hot Bruins thanks to six unanswered goals in front of a crowd of almost 1,500 fans. It looked like Austin was on its way to a sweep thanks to the opening two goals in the 1st period from Lucas Kohls and Guillaume Leclerc, but the Wings responded with four goals later in the 1st period to take a 4-2 lead to the lockerroom on goals from Patrick Steinhauser, Erik Baskin, TJ Roo and Jake Horton. Jonathan Grebosky added a 2nd period goal and Drew Doyon added a 3rd period goal to make the final 6-2. Boxscore

Topeka RoadRunners 3 @ Odessa Jackalopes 2 - The RoadRunners, coming off a rough stretch, went down to Odessa and completed a three-game sweep of the Jackalopes in dramatic fashion with a 3-2 win Saturday. Jake Kamrass started the show with a goal at 7:52 on a power play. Robb Stautz tied the game for Odessa. Not long after, Jasen Fernsler fired his second goal of the weekend and the Runners entered the third up 2-1. Joey Palumbo tied it all up early in the third with a goal at 1:12. Late in the 3rd period, Tyler Poulsen scored the game-winner on the power play with just :17 seconds remaining. Boxscore

Brookings Blizzard 1 @ Bismarck Bobcats 3 – It took until the 3rd period for the scoring to get going, but the Bismarck Bobcats exacted some revenge to salvage a weekend split with the Brookings Blizzard thanks to a 3-1 home win. In the opening three minutes of the 3rd period, the Bobcats went up 2-0 thanks to goals from Stanislav Dzakhov and Filip Starzynski.  Nick DeCenzo cut the lead to 2-1 with a power play goal, but Matt Anders answered back to make the final 3-1. Aaron Nelson picked up the win, while Drew Weigman took the loss. Boxscore

Lone Star Brahmas 3 @ Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 2 (SO) – The Brahmas snapped a small winless skid with a 3-2 shootout win in Rio Grande Valley. The Brahmas jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st period with goals from Todd Koritzinsky and RJ Salvato. The Killer Bees fought their way back with a 2nd period tally from Trent Dillinger and a 3rd period goal from Anthony Croston.  In the shootout, Alexey Solovyev, Salvato and Paul Fregeau scored to secure the win for the Brahmas.Jacob Nehama made 34 saves in the win.
