Minotauros edge Wings in lone NAHL game on Thursday
Minot 2 @ Aberdeen 1 (SO) – Minot goaltender Tyler Parks made 43 saves through regulation and overtime and then stopped four of five shooters in the shootout as the Minot Minotauros picked up a 2-1 shootout win on the road in Aberdeen against the Wings in the lone NAHL game om Thursday night. The win moved Minot back into a tie for 3rd place in the Central Division with Brookings. Both teams have 36 points.
Minot took an early 1-0 lead late in the 1st period as Zack Holstrom scored his first goal on a Minotauros uniform as he scored a power play goal with assists from Seth Blair and Scott Dornbrock. The Wings would finally solve Parks midway through the 3rd period as Jake Horton scored his 6th of the season with assists from Joe Sullivan and Patrick Steinhauser.
After no scoring in overtime, the game would go to a shootout. After the Wings Colton Kramer scored as the first shooter, the is all Parks would give up. Dornbrock and Jake O’Borsky would score for Minot in the shootout to secure the win. Wings goaltender Jared Stearns was solid in the loss, making 30 saves and stopping three of five shooters in the shootout. It was the Wings 11th straight loss.
