Bruins, Minotauros pick up road wins on Thanksgiving
Austin 5 @ Aberdeen1 – Despite the four-goal win, the star of Thursday’s Thanksgiving game in Aberdeen may have been Bruins goaltender Nick Lehr, who made 36 saves as the Bruins won their fifth straight and increased their division lead to 10 points, which is the largest division lead by any team in the NAHL. The Bruins scored the first three goals of the game as Chris Fischer scored twice and Drew Anderson added another to make it 3-0. The Wings would get their only goal in the middle of the 2nd period from Mike Parnell. Goals from Nolan Kirley and John Simonson put the game out of reach for the Wings as the Bruins posted another win. Boxscore
Minot 5 @ Bismarck 4 (SO) – Jake O’Borsky had a goal and two assists and Mason Morelli had the shootout winner as Minot picked up a big 5-4 win on the road in a shootout over Bismarck. After an opening goal by Minot’s Wesley Iverson, Bismarck scored three straight to make it 3-1 on goals from Cory Chapman, Matt Anders and Adam Knochenmus. The Minotauros stormed back with a power play goal from O’Borsky to make it 3-2. David Dalbec tied the game at 3-3 with a shorthanded goal and Cameron Rowat scored early in the 3rd period to give Minot a 4-3 lead. Joe Giordano scored late in the 3rd period for Bismarck to send the game to overtime and then the shootout. Tyler Parks made 31 saves in the win for the Minotauros, who have now won three of their last four games. Boxscore
