Pair of Jr. Blues alums sign NHL deals
The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are happy to announce that former players Greg Rallo and Mike McKenna have signed NHL contracts.
Rallo, who played for the Jr. Blues in the NAHL from 2000-02, signed with the Florida Panthers. While Rallo was with the Blues he amassed 137 points in 2 seasons, earning a scholarship to play at Ferris State University in the CCHA. He was also the USA Hockey Junior Player of the Year and NAHL MVP during the 2001-02 season. Rallo has spent the last six seasons playing professional hockey and made his NHL debut last season with Florida.
McKenna, who played for the Jr. Blues in the NAHL from 1999-01 and was a teammate of Rallo, signed with his hometown St. Louis Blues. McKenna played over 60 games for the Jr. Blues and earned a scholarship to St. Lawrence University in the ECAC. McKenna has spent the last seven seasons playing professional hockey and made his NHL debut in 2008-09 with the Tampa Bay Lighting. McKenna has appeared in 17 NHL games to date.
