Clark named assistant coach in Motor City

July 2, 2008

The Motor City Machine has announced the hiring of Sean Clark as an assistant coach.

Clark, from Troy, Mich., spent his college playing days in the WIAC at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire before moving on to the professional level with the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL.

After his playing career, Clark became an assistant coach for the Metro Jets of the Central States League before serving as head coach of the Michigan Jaguars during the 2006-07 season. After leaving the Jaguars, Clark jumped on board with the USA Hockey Select 17 staff in 2008.

"I'm very excited to be a part of the Motor City Machine organization,” said Clark.  “I look forward to working together with (Machine) coach (GM- Matt) Romaniski and building a solid franchise here in the Detroit area."

Since 2006, Clark has been with CORE Sports Fitness, where he serves as a skating instructor, performance coach and business director. He’s also the creator, director and head instructor of Kris Draper’s CORE Fundamentals Hockey School.

“Through my coaching experience and my training experience at CORE Sports Fitness, I believe that I can contribute both on and off the ice to the success of this team,” Clark added.

BOBCATS ADD TO STAFF:
The Bismarck Bobcats have announced that Elizabeth Olson and Caryn Olson have been hired as sales and marketing executives.

“The Bobcats are very fortunate to have hired two energetic, talented professionals,” said Bobcats president-GM Jane Link.  “Caryn and Elizabeth are a great addition to the Bobcat Hockey staff and the Bismarck-Mandan community.”

Elizabeth Olson, a native of Eau Claire, Wis., will add a handful of marketing and public relations experience to the Bobcats. She most recently acted as the marketing manager for Huffcutt Concrete Inc. (Chippewa Falls, Wis.).

Elizabeth also brings a kind heart and a great charitable background to the team, spending her time volunteering at the Saint Paul Children’s Hospital and at the Life House, a facility for teen parents and troubled youth. Olson has also spent the last eight years volunteering for Relay for Life.

Caryn Olson, from Argusville, N.D., has a wide range of sports marketing and sports industry knowledge. Most recently, Caryn was a Graduate Assistant for the Minnesota State University Athletics Department where she was primarily involved with the hockey program.

Before her time with the Mavericks, Caryn interned with the Minnesota Vikings, the North Dakota Sate University athletics program and the Fargo-Moorhead Red Hawks.

"I'm thrilled to have them as part of the Bobcat family and look forward to them meeting the fans and sponsors of the Bismarck Bobcats, especially during a very exciting time with the remodeling of the rink and the notable attendance we had last year,” Link said.
