Five-goal 3rd period gives Bruins 6th straight win

March 9, 2012

Austin 5 @ Minot 3 - The winning streak continues to grow for the Austin Bruins after Thursday night's 5-3 victory on the road against the Minot Minotauros.  The Bruins have now won all nine meetings against the Minotauros this season.  This was the 30th win on the season for the Bruins and they have now won six straight games. Still, it's always tough on the road in the North American Hockey League and the Bruins fell behind 3-0 after two periods of play.  Mason Morelli and Seth Blair scored in the 1st period giving Minot a 2-0 lead after one period and Denis Dalidovich added the third Minot goal to give the Minotauors a 3-0 lead after two periods.  Getting their offense untracked in the third period, the Bruins rallied to score five goals and record the win. The defense took care of its part in the bargain by keeping the Minotauros scoreless in the third period.  Matt Hansen started the Bruins rally in the third period and he would later cap the win with the final goal of the night. Hansen scored on the power play at just 36 seconds into the third period.  Cutting the deficit back to one goal, AJ Reid continued the rally with a goal at the 9:12 mark. A couple of minutes later, Jake Flynn scored for the Bruins and tied the game.  With the defense holding the Minotauros to only five shots in the final period and goalie Tyler Bruggeman turning all of those away, the Bruins took control. Chris Fischer scored with just over six minutes to play and the Bruins were on top the rest of the way.  Finishing what he started, Hansen capped the rally with four minutes to play. The assists on Hansen's second goal went to Brandon Wahlin and CJ Smith as the Bruins started their three-game weekend road trip with a win. Boxscore
