Saturday Scores: Wings blank Chill to complete sweep

Aberdeen 3 @ Coulee Region 0 - Aberdeen goalie Frederick Leisner stopped all 30 shots he faced as the Wings claimed a 3-0 victory over the Coulee Region Chill Saturday.  Cullen Hurley was involved with all three Aberdeen goals on the night, scoring the first and assisting on the other two. After Hurley's first-period goal gave the Wings a 1-0 edge after one period, Kevin Becker and Steve Obarzanek added to the lead with second-period goals.  The Wings outshot Coulee Region 40-30 on the night, including a 23-10 spree in the second period.  The game featured just three minor penalties on the night.  Aaron Davis suffered the loss for the Chill, making 37 saves.  The victory completed a weekend sweep for the Wings, who won 4-3 in a shootout on Friday night. Aberdeen improved to 18-14-3 while the Chill fell to 11-18-5. Boxscore

Traverse City 2 @ Michigan 3 – The Warriors jumped out to a 3-0 lead with goals from Joe Ferriss, Dan Sakalian and Tyler Perpich and managed to hang on for a 3-2 win.  Alexander Taulien and Will Badner scored :29 seconds apart in the 3rd period, but could not find the equalizer.  Trevor Gorsuch made 18 saves for his first NAHL win. Kalamazoo 3 @ Springfield 2 (SO) – Kalamazoo exacted some revenge from a shootout loss the night before as Kyle Gattelaro scored with the :10 seconds remaining in regulation to ultimately send the game to a shootout where Ken MacLean stopped three of four Jr. Blues shooters.  For the game, MacLean was the star for the Jr. K-Wings, making a season-high 52 saves. Chicago 0 @ Janesville 6 – Brock Kautz stopped all 17 shots and Connor McBride had a goal and two assists as the Jets swept the Hitmen to increase their division lead to five points.  Chris Cattivera, John Olen, Conor Lemirande, William Preston and Jordan Bancroft also scored for Janesville. St. Louis 1 @ Topeka 4 – Peter Traber’s NAHL-high season shutout streak came to an end at almost 218 minutes, but Topeka got a hat-trick from Dan Dupell, who scored three consecutive goals within a 10-minute span in the 3rd period as the RoadRunners came back to beat the Bandits. Joe Birmingham had the lone for the St. Louis and Traber won his fourth straight game making 22 saves. Boxscore

Corpus Christi 3 @ Amarillo 2 (SO) – It took a combined 16 shooters, but Corpus Christi snapped Amarillo’s 10-game winning streak with a 3-2 shootout win in Amarillo.  Dmitry Ermakov scored the shootout winner and goaltender Anthony Stolarz stopped seven of eight shooters in the shootout.  Stolarz made 39 saves in the game. Wichita Falls 1 @ New Mexico 3 – The Mustangs turned around their fortune with two goals in the 3rd period to top the Wildcats, 3-1.  Jayson Angus scored twice and Tate Rusk added the other goal for the Mustangs, who got 33 saves from Randy Graham in the win.  George Pagonis scored the lone goal for the Wildcats in the weekend split. Wenatchee 1 @ Fresno 3 – Kyle Vogel scored early for Wenatchee, but Fresno answered with goals from Karl Andersen, Riley Borer and Dominic Valencia as they earned a weekend split with a 3-1 win.  Tomas Sholl stopped 33 of 34 shots in the win, while Petr Mainer chipped in with two assists. Boxscore

Fairbanks 6 @ Kenai River 3 – The Ice Dogs jumped out to a 5-0 lead and never looked back in a 6-3 win over the Brown Bears to earn a weekend split.  JT Osborn had a goal and two assists and Pavlo Padakin and Gabe Levin also had multi-point nights for the Ice Dogs.  Alec Hajdukovich ended up with the game-winning goal, his second game-winner of the season. Alaska 5 @ Dawson Creek 2 – Alaska handed Dawson Creek their 6th straight loss with a 5-2 win on Saturday.  Wehebe Darge had two goals and an assist and Mitch Kontny had a goal and an assist in the win.  Evan Janssen and Brandon Brossoit also scored for Alaska, who got 33 saves from Nick Kulmanovsky in the win.
