Jets complete three-game sweep of Chicago on Sunday

Janesville 4 @ Chicago 3 – The Janesville Jets completed a three-game road sweep of the Hitmen with a 4-3 win on Sunday.  Lawrence Childs gave Janesville the lead less than two minutes into the game, but that was answered by a goal by Chicago’s Shigenobu Kakudate, who tied the game at 1-1 with a late 1st period goal.  Things were looking good for the Hitmen after goals in the opening two minutes of the 2nd period by David Gandara and Anthony Annunziato, but Janesville stormed back with two of their own late in the frame from Connor McBride and a power play goal from John Olen to tie the game at 3-3 headed into the 3rd period.  Janesville would get the lone goal in the 3rd period from Jordan Bancroft’s unassisted goal, which turned out to be the game-winner as the Jets kept pace with the St. Louis Bandits for the top spot in the Midwest Division.  Tony Kujava made 24 saves in the win for the Jets, while Nick Kohn made 37 saves in the loss for Chicago. Michigan 2 @ Kalamazoo 8 – The Jr. K-Wings ended the Warriors four-game winning streak with a convincing 8-2 win at home on Sunday.  Defenseman Anthony Appleyard had two goals and an assist to lead Kalamazoo.  Nick Kovalchik also had two goals in the win.  Alex Okicki made 23 saves in the win for Kalamazoo, who sit in 2nd place in the North. St. Louis 3 @ Springfield 2 – Frank Dichiara completed a three-goal, six-point weekend with another goal on Sunday as the Bandits kept their lead in the Midwest with a three-game sweep of Springfield.  Joe Birmingham had a goal and an assist and Tyler Green made 28 saves in the win. Josef Pontasch and Ruslan Pedan scored for the Jr. Blues. Boxscore
