Saturday scores: Bandits keep rolling in Midwest Division

St. Louis 4 @ Springfield 2 – The St. Louis Bandits took a 3-0 lead and held on to beat the Springfield Junior Blues 4-2 Saturday night in a North American Hockey League game at the Hardees Iceplex.  The game was scoreless until a goal by the Bandits’ Luc Boby late in the 2nd period. Ryan Stouffer and Joe Kalisz scored in the first six minutes of the 3rd period to make it 3-0 before the Junior Blues rallied.  Power-play goals by Cody Kohn and Kyle Cook cut the margin to 3-2, but the Bandits’ Frank Dichiara put the game away with a power-play goal late in the 3rd period.  It was Dichiara’s 5th point in the last two games.  Junior Blues goalie Connor Girard made 33 saves. The Bandits outshot Springfield 36-21, and St. Louis goalie Spencer Viele stopped 19 shots.  The Bandits lead in the North Division remains at three games with the win.Boxscore

Wenatchee 7 @ Topeka 1 – Blake Roubos had a career night by scoring four goals and adding an assist as the Wild beat Topeka, 7-1.  Ben Carey had a four-point night with a goal and three assists, two of which came on Roubos goals.  Robert Nichols made 19 saves in the win.  Trevor Stewart and Michael Lant had the other goals for the Wild. Janesville 8 @ Chicago 2 – The Jets scored the final six goals of the game and got two goals and an assist from Connor McBride in a lopsided win against the Hitmen.  Defenseman and Colorado College recruit Garrett Cecere had two goals and Adam Frank, Connor Doran, Jordan Bancroft and Jake Horton also scored for Janesville. Fresno 8 @ Dawson Creek 5 – Jeff Pauluk and Riley Borer each had three-point nights as the Monsters scored two goals in the 3rd period to sweep the Rage on the road.  Dawson Creek was led by Carter Page’s three points and Austin Adduono’s two goals in the loss.  Brendan Bradley also had a multi-point game for Fresno. Corpus Christi 3 @ New Mexico 5 – The Mustangs came back from a 3-0 deficit thanks to four, 3rd period goals on their way to a series split with the IceRays.  Michael Dery scored twice for the IceRays to give them the early lead, but New Mexico stormed back with goals from Charles Baldwin, Brent Lafayette, Evan Johnston, Jayson Angus and Patrick Anderson. Texas 2 @ Wichita Falls 1 – Reid Mimmack shined in goal for the Tornado, making 36 saves as Texas salvaged a weekend road split with the Wildcats.  CJ Reuschlein and Justin Greenberg scored for the Tornado, while Brennen Parker scored the lone goal for Wichita Falls.  Matt Leon made 26 saves in the loss for the Wildcats. Amarillo 5 @ Odessa 2 – The Bulls outshot the Jacks 42-19 and moved their record to 6-0 against Odessa with a 5-2 win.  Defenseman Karl Beckman had a goal and three assists and Joe Kozlak had two goals in the win for the Bulls, who have the league’s best record.  Jude Warner and Luke Jenkins also scored for Amarillo. Bismarck 2 @ Austin 3 (OT) – Chris Fischer scored :52 seconds into overtime as Austin earned a weekend split with the Bobcats.  The teams traded goals in the 2nd and 3rd periods to send the game to overtime.  Adam Knochenmus and Castan Sommer scored for the Bobcats, while Brandon Wahlin and Austin Nelson scored in regulation for Austin. Fairbanks 4 @ Kenai River 5 (SO) – Despite scoring twice in the final minute of regulation to tie the game, the Ice Dogs fell in a shootout as the Brown Bears earned a weekend split.  Matt Thompson scored twice in regulation for the Brown Bears, while Gabe Levin had a goal and two assists for the Ice Dogs.  The Brown Bears Alex Frere and the Ice Dogs Alec Hajdukovich also had three-point games. Minot 1 @ Aberdeen 5 – The league’s 5th leading scorer Cory Ward registered a hat-trick as the Wings beat the Minotauros 5-1 for the weekend sweep.  Joe Mottiqua and Mike Parnell also scored for Aberdeen while Buster Hebda had the lone goal for Minot.  The Wings outshot the Minotauros 38-25. Port Huron 4 @ Jamestown 3 – Easton Powers and Nolan Valleau scored in the 3rd period as the 1st place Fighting Falcons came from behind to beat Jamestown, 4-3.  The Fighting Falcons lead atop the North Division is now at a season-high nine points.  Alex Globke and Joe Pizza also scored for Port Huron while Eric Fragoso, Jeff McFarland and Anthony Coles scored for the Ironmen. Traverse City 2 @ Michigan 4 – The Warriors won their fourth straight game thanks to two goals from Michael Economos and Matus Matis.  The North Stars Seth Adams had both goals in the loss for Traverse City, who dropped their only game if the weekend.  Traverse City outshot Michigan 31-25. Alexandria 1 @ Coulee Region 0 – In an old fashioned goaltending duel, it was the Blizzard’s Jacob Meyers who stopped all 32 shots that ended up on the winning end as he bested the Chill’s David Heflin, who made 35 saves.  The lone goal of the game came in the 2nd period off the stick the Alexandria’s Reid Sturos.
