Bulls forward Stapleton makes NCAA commitment
The Amarillo Bulls of the NAHL are proud to announce that forward Nick Stapleton has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Colby College to further his academic and hockey career.
"I look forward to my opportunity to develop as a student-athlete at Colby and believe it is the best situation for me," Stapleton said.
The 5’10/180 lbs. native of Bellaire, Michigan, joined the Amarillo Bulls in the 2019-20 season where he had 18 points in his first season in the North American Hockey League.
“We are very excited for Nick as he moves on to the next chapter in his career," Head Coach Rocky Russo said.
Stapleton, 21, was selected as an alternate captain for the 2020-21 season and played in all 56 regular season games and the entire first round against Shreveport.
“I want to thank everyone in the Amarillo Bulls organization for their help over the past two years," Stapleton said. "Although we didn’t achieve our goal of winning a championship this year, I’m proud of what we accomplished.”
Colby College is located in Waterville, Maine and are members of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).
"Colby college is an elite academic school with a fantastic hockey program," Russo said. "He is going to excel in both situations and be a tremendous addition to the Colby College Community.”
Stapleton's commitment to Colby College brings the Bulls number to 12 college commitments on this year’s roster.
