Shreveport forward Bunting makes NCAA DI commitment

May 20, 2021

The Shreveport Mudbugs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Sean Bunting has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the Air Force Academy in Atlantic Hockey.

Bunting, 20, is currently in his third season of playing junior hockey and first season in the NAHL with the Mudbugs.

“Proud to announce my commitment to play Division 1 hockey at the United States Air Force Academy! Thank you to my family, coaches, friends and teammates for all of the support,” said Bunting on Twitter.

The 6’1/193 lbs. native of Phoenix, AZ, appeared in 54 games during the 2020-21 regular season and recorded 24 points (10 goals, 14 assists).

During his second week in the NAHL this season, Bunting was named the 2nd star of the week in the South Division on November 16th.

“Air Force Academy will be a great fit for Sean. He came right in at the beginning of the year as a big part of our Leadership group.  His personality and rugged style of play has made him a Mudbugs fan favorite. Air Force is getting a player that has been used and can play in all situations. He’s a strong skater, hits like a truck, and has a great shot.  We’d like to wish Sean and Air Force the best in the future,” said Mudbugs head coach Jason Campbell.
