Maine forward Gaulin makes NCAA D1 commitment
The Maine Nordiques of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Tyler Gaulin has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for the University of Maine in Hockey East.
Gaulin, 18, has been very good so far in his first NAHL season, helping the Nordiques get off to a 3-1-0 start. The 6’0/175 lbs. native of Kingston, New Hampshire, currently leads the team in scoring with seven points (2 goals, 5 assists) in four games.
During the week of October 6-12, Gaulin was named the NAHL’s East Division Star of the week for his four-point weekend. He has recorded at least a points in his first four games so far this season.
“Tyler is a dynamic forward who uses his hockey sense to put himself in great position on the ice and is usually multiple steps ahead of his opponents. His work away from the puck and his chemistry with his teammates allowed him to utilize his skill set to put up a number or important points for our team. The best part about Tyler is that the most important four points earned this weekend were from the team wins, not his own statistics, which is the standard within our locker room. We look forward to him continuing his hot start as the season continues,” said Maine head coach Nolan Howe.
“I am proud and honored to announce my commitment to play Division 1 college hockey and further my education at the University of Maine. Can’t thank my friends, family, teammates, and coaches enough for helping get to where I am today,” said Gaulin. “Everything about their program is so professional, from the coaching staff to the facilities. I was star-struck. I could not see a better fit for me.”
Prior to playing in the NAHL, Gaulin played four seasons for Berwick Academy in Maine.
