Saturday Scores: Black Bears roll to sweep and fifth straight win

Eric Huss led the Lone Star Brahmas to a weekend home sweep to stay in 1st place in the South Division.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 1 @ Maryland 5 - The Maryland Black Bears are now in sole possession of third place in the East Division after completing the sweep of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights. The Black Bears scored a 5-1 victory on Saturday as Logan Kons had a goal and three helpers. Hampus Rydqvist had a goal and two assists while Logan Kittleson, Reid Leibold and Jude Kurtas all tallied goals for Maryland. Andrew Takacs turned aside 19 of 20 shots to earn the victory in net. Liam Haslam had the only goal for the Knights while Alex Contey made 29 saves.
 
Topeka 4 @ Lone Star 5 (SO) - Will Stomp’s beauty in the shootout lifted the Lone Star Brahmas to a 5-4 win over the Topeka Pilots. Eric Huss led the Lone Star offense in regulation as he potted a pair of goals and added an assist. Matt Guerra and Mitchell Digby also visited the red light district for the Brahmas. Cayden Bailey earned his ninth win of the season by making 14 saves. Connor Zilisch had a goal and two assists for Topeka while Quinn Green netted a goal and an assist. Jordan Gonzalez and John Gormley also scored for the Pilots./ Josh Langford was given the loss as he made 22 saves.
 
New Jersey 6 @ Jamestown 3 - Matthew Iasenza had two goals and an assist while Cam Gendron also lit the lamp twice for the New Jersey Titans as they finished their sweep of the Jamestown Rebels with a 6-3 win on Saturday night. Josef Glamos and Michael Outzen also netted goals for New Jersey. Patrick Pugliese won his second game of the weekend as he made 26 saves. Noah Finstrom, Renars Karkls and Eric Olson all scored for Jamestown in the loss. Jon Howe made 25 stops. 
 
Aberdeen 3 @ St. Cloud 1 - Henry Welsch made 30 saves as the Aberdeen Wings finished off their sweep of the St. Cloud Blizzard with a 3-1 win on Saturday. Pierson Brandon led the Aberdeen offense with a goal and an assist. Zach Aughe and Huston Karpman also netted goals for the Wings. Luke Aquaro scored the lone goal for St. Cloud while Sam Metcalf and Tyler Bost combined for 29 saves.
 
Corpus Christi 0 @ Shreveport 5 - Richie Parent denied all 32 shots fired his way as he grabbed his third shutout and 10th win of the season as the Shreveport Mudbugs blanked the Corpus Christi IceRays 5-0. Jacob Smith was the only goal scorer with a multi-point night as he had a goal and an assist. Warren Natyshak, Timofei Khokhlachev, Giovanni Procopio and Garrett Steele all found the back of the net for Shreveport. Cal Sandquist made 41 saves in the loss for Corpus Christi. 
 
Amarillo 3 @ New Mexico 2 - The Amarillo Bulls continued their hot streak by taking down the New Mexico Ice Wolves 3-2. Devan Tongue, Jordan Venegoni and Niclas Puikkonen all tallied goals for the Bulls. Max Gutjahr stopped 22 of 24 shots to win his 12th game of the year. Logan Martinson and Zach Frisk provided the offense for New Mexico. Henrik Laursen made 36 saves in the loss.
 
Northeast 5 @ Maine 6 - Trent Grimshaw’s hat trick helped the Maine Nordiques erase a 5-2 deficit and comeback to defeat the Northeast Generals by a score of 6-5. Jack Strauss netted the game winning goal just 39 seconds after Cannon Green tied the game for Maine. Timmy Kent also had a goal and two assists for the Nordiques while Avery Sturtz stopped 24 shots in the win. Gerard Marretta continued to have an incredible weekend as he scored twice in the loss, giving him five goals on the weekend. Aeden Drossos had a goal and an assist for the Generals while Joe Nagle and Cam Gaudette each found the back of the net. Connor Bradford made 33 saves in a losing effort. 
 
Kenai River 4 @ Janesville 5 (SO) - Nick Nardella scored the only goal in the shootout to lift the Janesville Jets to 5-4 shootout victory over the Kenai River Brown Bears. Isaac Novak’s hat trick helped the Jets force overtime. Nardella also scored in regulation for Janesville. Riley Sims made 36 saves in 65 minutes and stopped all four shooters he faced in the skills competition. Logan Ritchie, Jack Quinn, Theo Thrun and Peter Morgan all lit the lamp for the Brown Bears. Landon Pavlisin stopped 31 shots. 
 
Fairbanks 2 @ MN Magicians 1 (OT) - Nathan Butler’s third goal of the season was the difference as the Fairbanks Ice Dogs edged the Minnesota Magicians 2-1 in overtime. Adam Eisele score d the games’ first goal just 1:49 into the game to give the Ice Dogs the early lead. The Magicians would tie it on Trevor Kukkonen’s second goal of the year that came at the 2:28 mark of the third period. Mattias Sholl got the win, stopping 32 of 33 shots. Dysen Skinner was dealt the tough loss as he stopped 34 of 36 Fairbanks shots.
