Ice Dogs win West Division regular-season title
The Fairbanks Ice Dogs won the North American Hockey League's (NAHL) West Division regular-season title after their 5-2 win over the Fresno Monsters on Wednesday.
The Ice Dogs have 76 points, 15 more than the second-place Wenatchee Wild (six games remaining) and Alaska Avalanche (five games remaining).
“I’m feeling awesome,” Ice Dogs forward Jared Linnell told the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. “This is a good feeling. We’re the first team in the league to clinch their division, and coach got the game puck. Everyone is feeling great.”
“Yeah, this feels great,” said Ice Dogs head coach Josh Hauge, “but it’s not our goal. Our goal is to make it to the championships and win the national title. This is just an important piece to have in that puzzle, and it does feel great.”
