Saturday Scores: Jets one of five teams with 2-0 series leads

Samu Lonkila stopped all 39 shots that came his way, helping the Minot Minotauros to a 2-0 win in Game 2 and tying up their series against Aberdeen at 1-1.

Midwest Division Semi-Finals, Game 2: Springfield 2 @ Janesville 3 (Janesville leads series, 2-0) – Sam Renlund continued his hot play as the Jets forward scored twice to lead the Jets to a 3-2 win in Game 2 of the best of 5 series against the Jr. Blues. Renlund scored his first goal in the opening period and then Ian Malcomson scored his first of the playoff for the Jets early in the 2nd period to make it 2-0. The Jr. Blues were able to comeback and tie the game at 2-2 thanks to a 2nd period goal from Spencer DenBeste and a 3rd period goal from Dylan Rauh. However, with 12 minutes remaining in the final period, Renlund added his second goal of the game to secure the win. Garrett Nieto picked up the win for the Jets, while Evan Fear took the loss.
 
Central Division Semi-Finals, Game 2: Minot 2 @ Aberdeen 0 (Series tied, 1-1) – Samu Lonkila stopped all 39 shots that came his way as the Minotauros shut the door on the Wings and posted a 2-0 win in Game 2, tying the Central Division Semi-Final series at 1-1. Scoring was hard to come by as it took 49 minutes for anyone to light the lamp. Minot took a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal midway through the 3rd period from Grant Loven. Lonkila shut the door the rest of the way and Alex Adams added an empty-net goal to secure the win and give home ice advantage back to the Minotauros. Matt Vernon took the loss in goal for the Wings, making 20 saves.
 
East Division Semi-Finals, Game 1: Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 2 @ New Jersey 5 (New Jersey leads series, 1-0) – Kyler Head had two goals and an assist and Matt Ladd made 35 saves to lead the Titans to a 5-2 win in Game 1 of the East Division Semi-Finals. The Titans jumped out to a 2-0 lead with 1st period goals from Ryan Naumovski and Head. The Knights were quick to tie the game thanks to a late period 1st period goal from Shay Donovan and a goal early in the 2nd period from Curtis Carlson. The Titans then exploded for three unanswered goals from Head, Zachary Faremouth, and Wade Novak to post the 5-2 win. Knights goalie David Tomeo made 42 saves in the loss.
 
Central Division Semi-Finals, Game 2: MN Wilderness 1 @ Austin 3 (Austin leads series, 2-0) – Alex Schilling made 18 saves to lead the Bruins to a 3-1 win and take a 2-0 series lead over the Wilderness in the Central Division Semi-Finals. Austin got off to a fast start thanks to a power play goal early in the 1st period from Dan Petrick. Early in the 2nd period, the Bruins made it a 2-0 game as Alex Mella scored his 2nd goal of the playoffs just :34 seconds into the period. In the 3rd period, the Wilderness cut the lead to 2-1 as Landon Langenbrunner netted his first goal of the playoffs, but the Wilderness could not find the equalizer and Lane Krenzen put home an empty-net goal to secure the 3-1 win. 
 
South Division Semi-Finals, Game 2: Odessa 1 @ Lone Star 2 (Lone Star leads series, 2-0) – Mitchell Gibson stopped 18 of 19 shots to lead the Brahmas to a 2-1 win in Game 2 to take a 2-0 series lead against the Jackalopes. After a scoreless 1st period, the Brahmas took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd period on a goal from Michael Montambault. The Jackalopes tied the game early in the 3rd period as Evan Somoza scored, but the Brahmas had a quick answer as just :24 seconds later, Aidan Spellacy netted the game-winner. Odessa goalie Brett Epp made 33 saves in the loss.
 
South Division Semi-Finals, Game 2: Corpus Christi 2 @ Shreveport 3 (Shreveport leads series, 2-0) – The Mudbugs erased two different IceRays leads and scored twice in the 3rd period to pick up a 3-2 win in Game 2, taking a 2-0 lead in the best of 5 South Division Semi-Finals. The IceRays jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a 1st period goal from Adam Kadlec. The Mudbugs found the equalizer in the 2nd period courtesy of Cam Cook’s 2nd goal of the playoffs. In the 3rd period, the IceRays again went up by a goal thanks to a tally from Matt Acciaioli, but the Mudbugs would answer back with two goals from Derek Contessa and Andrew Lane to take a 3-2 lead. The IceRays had a late push to end the game, but a late save from Jaxon Castor on the goal line, preserved the win for Shreveport. Castor made 28 saves in the win, while Chad Veltri made 39 saves in the loss.
 
Midwest Division Semi-Finals, Game 2: MN Magicians 2 @ Fairbanks 4 (Fairbanks leads series, 2-0) – Four different players scored as the Ice Dogs took a 2-0 series lead thanks to a 4-2 win over the Magicians in Game 2 in Fairbanks. Fairbanks jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to a 1st period goal from John Stampohar and a 2nd period goal from Jake Willets. The Magicians found the back of the net later in the 2nd period on a goal from Chris Konin, his 2nd of the playoffs. In the 3rd period, Tanner Schachle scored early in the period for the Ice Dogs to make it a 3-1 game. Late in regulation, the Magicians cut it to 3-2 on a goal from Brendan Skarda, but an empty-netter from Hunter Wendt secured the 4-2 win. Ice Dogs goalie Josh Benson made 12 saves in the win, while Isaiah Saville made 34 saves in the loss.
