Coulee Region forward Bowman makes NCAA DI commitment

March 6, 2018

Nick Bowman made his NCAA Division I commitment just days after playing in the 2018 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament.

The Coulee Region Chill, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Nick Bowman has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in the ECAC.

Bowman, 20, is currently in his first full season of playing in the NAHL and second season overall playing junior hockey. The 6’0/194 lbs. native of Shelby Township, Michigan, is currently the Chill’s leading scorer with 43 points (22 goals, 21 assists) in 45 games played.

Bowman was recently selected to and played in the 2018 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the Midwest Division team where he had two points in two games at the event.

Bowman made his NAHL debut during the 2015-16 season with the Wichita Falls Wildcats. He spent the 2016-17 season in the USHL with Cedar Rapids and Sioux Falls.

Prior to playing junior hockey, Bowman spent three seasons playing high school hockey in Michigan for Brother Rice High School.

“I’m very honored to have the chance to join the RPI family. A huge thank you to my family and my coaches for supporting me all this way. I am super excited for the next four years of my life at RPI,” said Bowman.

“The Coulee Region Chill organization is very excited for Nick and his commitment to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  Nick has worked very hard for this opportunity and that work has paid off this year as he played a large role in our on ice successes.  We wish Nick the best of luck and we know that coach Smith and his staff will be happy to call him an Engineer,” said Chill head coach Ryan Egan.
