Saturday Scores: Brown Bears win 3rd straight with sweep

Evan Somoza helped the Odessa Jackalopes to a weekend road sweep in Corpus Christi.

Kenai River 8 @ Springfield 3 - The Brown Bears put an exclamation point on their weekend sweep of the Springfield Jr. Blues. Luke Posner led Kenai River with two goals and three assists. Luke Radetic also lit the lamp twice and added an assist. Ross Hanson, David Kaplan, Sutton McDonald and Gil Garcia all scored for Kenai. Artur Pavliukov picked up the win in goal, he made 43 saves. Nikita Kozyrev, Fabio Hollenstein, and Ethan Stewart all scored for Springfield in the loss. Jurja Ovecka gets the loss in goal for the Jr. Blues, he made 35 saves while Michael Corson stopped 22 shots.

Fairbanks 5 @ Bismarck 2 - The Ice Dogs will be leaving Bismarck with four points as Robert Blueger’s natural hat trick was the key to their victory on Saturday night. Blueger also added an assist during his big game. Tanner Schachle assisted on all three of Blueger’s goals while Erkka Vanska and Connor Chillton scored as well for Fairbanks. Josh Benson made 18 saves for his second win of the weekend. Alex Pollock and Ty Enns scored in a losing effort for the Bobcats, Vladimir Cibulka made 20 saves.

MN Magicians 2 @ Janesville 4 - The Janesville Jets completed their two game sweep of the Minnesota Magicians with a 4-2 victory on Saturday night. Erik Palmquisk scored what proved to be the game winning goal just 4:09 into the third period. Blake Ripley scored for the second straight night while Logan Ommen and Jakob Novak each added a goal in the win. Brendan Skarda and Kyler Grundy each netted a goal for the Magicians. Isaiah Saville took the loss while makes 34 saves on the night.

Odessa 5 @ Corpus Christi 3 - The Jackalopes finished off the weekend sweep of the IceRays thanks to a pair of Evans. Evan Rochowiak and Evan Somoza each scored twice to lead the Odessa offense and Petr Miko added a goal as well. Brett Epp made 30 saves in the win for Odessa. For the IceRays, Garrett Hallford and Noah Roofe scored once and each had an assist while Aleksi Peltonen also scored for Corpus Christi. Camden Burggrabe was stuck with the loss in goal, making 26 saves.

MN Wilderness 4 @ Austin 2 - After a tough showcase to start the season, the Minnesota Wilderness captured their first victory of the year, knocking off the Austin Bruins 4-2. Gino Lucia was the spark plug for the guys in green as he notched two goals in the win. Nick Altmann and Kosta Likourezous each had a goal and an assist. Trevor Micucci earned his first win of the year by denying 35 of 37 Austin shots. Travis Kothenbeutel and Vladimir Ahlberg each logged a goal for the Bruins. Alex Schilling got the loss stopping 21 shots.

New Jersey 2 @ Northeast 5 - The Generals continued their hot start as they knocked off the New Jersey Titans by a score of 5-2. Colin Bilek and Justin Jallen paced the Generals offense as they each scored two goals. Matthew Wiesner added a goal and an assist in the win. Mike Egan, Luke Perunovich, and Anthony Quatieri each had two assists for Northeast. Marko Sturma led the Generals in the crease stopping 42 shots. For the Titans, Hunter Alden and Eric Manoukian registered goals in the loss. Brandon Perrone made 20 saves in a losing effort.

Johnstown 1 @ Philadelphia 3 - The Philadelphia Rebels we’re able to win their home opener at the Class of 1923 Arena as they defeated the Johnstown Tomahawks 3-1. Ryan Patrick, Carson Moniz and Andrew Bellant all scored in the win. Ryan Keane got the win between the pipes for the Rebels, he made 15 saves. Roman Kraemer netted a goal for the Tomahawks while Vinnie Purpura made 29 stops.

Lone Star 0 @ Amarillo 3 - The Amarillo Bulls we’re able to bounce back after Friday night’s loss to split the weekend series with the Lone Star Brahmas. Jason Grande stopped all 26 shots fired his direction to lead his team to a 3-0 victory. Marcus Chorney, Jon Russell and Collin Price all scored for the Bulls in the win. Mitchell Gibson was unable to get any goal support yet again as he picked up another loss despite making 30 saves.

Aberdeen 2 @ Brookings 5 - The Brookings Blizzard we’re able to keep the Aberdeen offense in check in their home opener, allowing just a pair of Wings goals. Connor Koviak lit the lamp twice and added an assist. Meanwhile, Doug Larson, Josh Boyer, and Chase Brand all scored a goal and added a helper. Jeremy Foreman bounced back to earn the win in the crease. Satchel Clendenin and Colton Fletcher both scored for Aberdeen while Kade Phillips took the loss in net for the Wings.

Shreveport 3 @ Topeka 1 - The Shreveport Mudbugs we’re able to avoid a sweep in Topeka thanks to Cole Quisenberry. His two goals propelled the Mudbugs to their sixth victory of the season. Derek Contessa also scored for Shreveport in the contest. James Durham allowed just a single goal, that coming off the stick of Topeka’s Will Schlagenhauf about midway through the third on a power play. Emil Gransoe played well despite earning the loss, making 33 saves.
