Knights defeat Generals on Tuesday, 8-3

Liam Murray, who played the entire 2016-17 season in the NAPHL for the Meijer AAA 18U team, started and won his NAHL debut on Tuesday.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 8 @ Northeast 3 – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights erupted for five goals in the 3rd period to break open a close game to defeat the Northeast Generals on Tuesday afternoon by a score of 8-3. The game was the final regular game for the Generals, who completed their inaugural season in the NAHL.
 
The Knights got off to a fast start, jumping out to a 2-0 lead thanks to a late goal in the 1st period from Matt Kidney and another early in the 2nd period from Paul Cimilluca. The Generals were able to respond with a pair of goals in the 2nd period from Joe Vingi and Anthony Mangano, which were sandwiched in between a goal from Wilkes-Barre’s Vince Marino to make the score 3-2 after two periods.
 
The 3rd period was all Knights as they scored five goals in less than a 10-munte span as Kidney lit the lamp for his second goal of the game, along with goals from Markuss Komuls, Kimmy Elser, Jake Fuss and Elijah Latimer. Colin Bilek added a late goal for the Generals.
 
In goal, Liam Murray got the win for the Knights in his first career NAHL start. Murray, who made 21 saves in the game, played the 2016-17 season with the Meijer AAA 18U team in the NAPHL. David Fessenden, also a former NAPHL goalie, took the loss, making 46 saves.
