Mudbugs, Bobcats, Jets and IceRays win on Thursday

Bismarck forward Cooper Haar had a goal and an assist in a 4-3 win on Thursday over Minot.

Topeka 1 @ Shreveport 3 – The Mudbugs got 34 saves from John Roberts as they won their 4th straight game thanks to a 3-1 home win over the RoadRunners. After a scoreless 1st period, the Mudbugs took a 1-0 lead early in the 2nd period with a goal from Cameron Cook. Topeka answered five minutes later to tie the game at 1-1 on the goal from Peyton Frantti. Before the period was out, the Mudbugs took back the lead for good thanks to a goal from Steven Mather. In the 3rd period, the win was secured by an insurance goal from Kieran Durgan, who scored shorthanded. Ben Churchfield made 38 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Minot 3 @ Bismarck 4 – Making his NAHL debut, Bobcats goalie Severi Isokangas made 29 saves to lead Bismarck to a 4-3 home win over division-leading Minot. It was the second straight win for the Bobcats and the second consecutive loss for Minot. The teams were even at 1-1 in the opening half of the 1st period as Mitchell Walinski scored for Bismarck and Austin Dollimer answered for Minot. The Bobcats then rattled off three straight goals to take a 4-1 lead, which included another goal from Walinski and others from Tobias Fladeby and Cooper Haar. That spelled the end of the night for Minot goalie Lucas Murray. Minot cut the lead to 4-3 with a 2nd period goal from Derek Frentz and a 3rd period goal from Michael Talbot. Austin Park made 14 saves in a relief appearance, while Murray made 13 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Janesville 6 @ Coulee Region 2 – The Jets stayed hot and tied the NAHL league lead for wins with their 27thas they scored four 3rd period goals en route to a 6-2 win in Coulee Region. Cullen Munson was the big producer on Thursday, recorded two goals and an assist. Munson and Cole Paskus gave the Jets an early 2-0 lead. That was erased by the early 3rd period with two Chill goals from Steven Quagliata and Christian Stevens. The Jets then scored four goals in just over a four-minute span to secure the win, which included another goal from Munson and others from Adam Roeder, Frank Sullivan and Joseph Abate. Jacob Barczewski made 16 saves in the win, while Brad Arvanitis made 33 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Amarillo 3 @ Corpus Christi 4 (SO) – The IceRays stayed hot thanks to a 4-3 shootout win over the Amarillo Bulls on Thursday. Each team scored once in each of the three periods with the IceRays getting a 1st period goal from Larry Jungwirth, a 2nd period goal from Griffin Loughran and a 3rd period goal from Mason Krueger. The Bulls answered with a 1st period goal from Brendan Walkom, a 2nd period goal from Jeff Solow and a 3rd period goal from Steven Ipri. In the shootout, IceRays goalie Tomas Vomacka stopped all three Amarillo shooters, while David Thomson scored for the IceRays. Vomacka made 26 saves in the win, while Brandon Bussi made 33 saves in the shootout loss. Boxscore
